RETIREES CELEBRATE 20 YEARS
June 1989 to June 2009
The year 2009 was a milestone in the life of the RHAND Retirees Group. To recognise this significant event a week of activities embracing the general philosophy of the group, was planned. The last week in June was designated for all activities.
On Tuesday June 23rd, a Thanksgiving service was held at the Hanover Methodist Church at which Reverend CliffordRawlins officiated. This was followed by cocktails at the RHAND Rooftop where guests were entertained with the scintillating sounds of Mr.Trevor Callendar on the saxophone.
On Wednesday 24th June, lunch was provided for all residents of the All Saints Senior Citizens Home on Marli Street, Woodbrook.On Thursday June 25th, the Infant Department and students of Std. I and Std. II of the Moulton Hall Methodist School were treated to cake and ice-cream. Given that the SEA results had been released on that day, the SEA students were also presented with a cake.
Friday 26th was the grand 20th Anniversary Ball .Music was provided by Louis and the Lynx and D.J. K C Klass is Klass. The event was quite ostentatious as décor was quite exquisite and a sumptuous supper was served.
A Health Fair was hosted on June 29th on the rooftop. The Lions Group of Port of Spain, Diego Martin and San Juan ably provided tests for Blood Pressure, Cholesterol and Diabetes and eye tests, while the Cancer Society provided other tests.
Tuesday June 30th was the Grand Finale. After a luncheon, there was a Closing Ceremony at which each Retiree was presented with a token. A large anniversary cake was cut by the core members of the group and later served to all present.
