About the Tertiary Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be a member of RHAND Credit Union in good standing, that is, must be neither delinquent nor inactive.
Delinquent member means a member who is in default in the repayment of a loan or the payment of an installment in respect of a loan.
Inactive member means a member who has not purchased the equivalent of a minimum of twelve (12) shares during the preceding twelve-month (12) period.
Grants will be distributed as follows:
- Excellence – two (2) grants where academic excellence will be applied.
- Need and Excellence – two (2) grants where a means test will be applied to determine financial need.
All information given in the applications and in interviews will be held in strictest confidence.
The Annual Scholarship Payment shall be subject to the following criteria:
- The awardee must continue to be in good standing during the tenure of the award. Failure of a member to meet this requirement would jeopardize payment under the scholarship.
- Successful completion of the previous academic year along with the successful maintenance of a GPA over 2.75 or a B average (80 -89%).
- Continued attendance at the approved local tertiary institution initially identified.
- Submission of yearly academic transcripts.
- The award ceases to be paid at the end of the recommended cycle of study or upon graduation.
All questions on the application form must be answered.
Copies of the following required documents must be submitted with the application form:
- A copy of your ID (National ID, Driver’s License or Passport)
- Proof of address
- A letter of acceptance from an approved local tertiary-level institution.
- A copy of the previous year’s academic transcript. Applicable to second and third year applicants only.
- Proof of income (job letter or pay slip no older than 3 months)
1) All information supplied must be true and correct. If any of the information provided is proven, prior to the finalization of the wards, to be false or incorrect, the application is likely to be disqualified. If proof of such incorrectness or falsehood is discovered after the granting of the Award, the Award may be subject to withdrawal.
2) Applicants would be required to complete a Record Update Form whenever their address, telephone number, name, or any other contact details have changed from what is currently on file.
